As we say goodbye to a very warm summer, the cool air of fall approaches. Our skin often goes from being quite sun exposed, oily and humid, to drier, sensitive and flaky. This is the perfect time to reassess your routine, repair the damage from the summer, restore the skin barrier and prepare for the colder months ahead. As a Cosmetic Specialty Nurse, here are some of my best recommendations.
Adjusting Skincare:
Our skin is ever evolving, and often requiring a change in our routines to reflect the changes in the air. Here enters medical grade skincare, to deliver potent, targeted results. Medical grade products mean that every ingredient is optimal for the skin in effective concentrations. We want to incorporate ingredients like vitamin C, to combat free radical damage, retinol to help turn over the skin, and most importantly, we want to ensue we keep up with regular sunscreen use. Peptides are another superstar in skincare, to help us target and address specific skin concerns. Before you ask, yes, even over the winter, sunscreen plays a vital role in protecting our skin against the elements!
Skin Treatments:
Fall is an ideal time for more intensive skin treatments, like the Picosure Pro, and Chemical Peels, two of my favourites. After months of sun exposure, these treatments can help restore the skin and get you absolutely glowing.
Chemical peels can be vital in helping shed off older skincells, to reveal glowing, radiant skin beneath! It will help your skincare penetrate better into your skin, allow for deeper hydration, and reveal fresher, brighter skin.
Picosure Pro is one of my favourite lasers to help treat discolouration and sun spots in the skin. It’s powerful technology helps me even out skin tone and hit the refresh button on the skin.
I love discussing these treatments with my patients over a complimentary consultation to dive deep into a tailored treatment plan.
Bend Beauty Support:
When it comes to skin health and wellness from the inside, the hero product close to my heart is Bend Beauty’s Renew + Protect. I not only recommend all year long but especially over the winter months as it helps with skin smoothness and hydration, cold weather often stripping this away. It helps to build skin’s resilience from the inside out and protect against UV-induced damage. As your skin adjusts to fall, Bend Beauty Marine Collagen + Co-Factors is also a must-have, supporting skin elasticity and firmness, which can be compromised by environmental stressors. These products, taken together, provide a holistic approach to maintaining glowing, healthy skin throughout the changing seasons, complementing both your skincare routine and any professional treatments you choose.
Nurse Mia tip: I like my Marine Collagen + Co-Factors in the coconut flavour, adding a hint of warmth into my daily morning coffee.
I hope this resonates with you and helps you hit the rest on your routine, while encouraging you to try something new!
